Stainless Steel kitchenware are low in maintenance, you do not have to worry about dents, cracks and stains, but regular cleaning is required. You can simply avoid discoloration and stains by handling your kitchenware with the care, but if you have a mess with your hand due to any reason, here are some tried-and-tested tips for cleaning of stainless steel kitchenware.

Removing Stubborn Stains
If your tap water contains calcium, you'll notice a chalky white residue on the surface of the cookware. Fill pot or pan with 1 part vinegar and 3 parts water. Boil the mixture and let it cool, then wash using hot, soapy water. Rinse properly and dry.

To get rid of stains caused by burned-on food, fill the steel pan with sufficient quantity of water, soapy water to cover the mess and let it settle for almost an hour. Then put the pan back on the burner and heat the water for at least 10-15 minutes. Let the water cool and than scrub with a nylon scouring pad. Once again wash the pan with hot soapy water, rinse and dry. Repeat the procedure for more stubborn stains.

It is recommended to use non-abrasive cleanser like Bon Ami Polishing Cleanser or Bar Keepers Friend for regular cleaning. These cleansers are an effective way of removing the stains and maintaining the sheen of the stainless steel.

Avoid using metal scouring pads or abrasive cleanser. Although, these pads are perfect for removing oils and stains, but they will scratch the surface of the cookware. Always opt for plastic or nylon brushes or nylon net scouring pads. Never use ammonia-based cleaners or chlorine bleach on your stainless steel cookware.

The Finishing Touch
Give a finishing touch after cleaning to bring back the brand-new shine. Dip the utensil in the water and sprinkle some baking soda on the surface. Rub gently with soft nylon pad or Scotch-Brite, rinse throughly and allow the utensil to dry. Use glass cleaner, and wipe with paper towel or soft piece of cloth.

Proper care and cleaning will increase the life of your kitchenware. With little extra efforts, you can keep your cookware looking as good as a brand new one.
